Situations In Which An Emergency Electrician Should Be Called

While many electrical problems are dangerous, some are more urgent and require an electrician immediately. With the ability for home electrical problems to become house fires or other dangerous situations, it is imperative to know when to call an emergency electrician.

IF SOMETHING FALLS ON AN ELECTRICAL BOX OR METER

In unpredictable weather conditions, it is possible for a tree to fall down and this tree could potentially land on an electrical box or meter on the side of your home. This would cause your power to go out and would require an emergency electrician to come to your home to fix it.

IF YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPS

Circuit breakers can trip for many reasons: mainly if it is connected to a high energy consuming appliance or electronic. In the summer and winter months, air conditioners and portable heaters tend to trip the circuit breaker. If this happens leaving you with no power, see if you can turn the breaker off and then back on but if this does not work or the breaker trips again, you should call an emergency electrician to your home to safely and properly fix this problem.

WIRES MIXING WITH WATER

It is obvious that electricity and water do not mix and should not mix. During the event of a flood or even a small leak, any exposed wires in your home can get wet causing a potentially very dangerous situation. Do not try to remove these wires yourself due to the danger of the situation and possibility of electrocution. This is another situation in which an emergency electrician should be called. Their electrical experience and knowledge will ensure that this problem will be taken care of in the safest way possible.

Electrical Outlet Outdoors
SMOKING OUTLETS

Where there’s smoke, there may be a fire. If you see that any of your outlets are smoking, turn off your breaker and first call the fire department. They will be able to analyze the situation and see if there is a fire between the walls. Once the fire department is done in your home, an emergency electrician should be called to come find the root of the problem and analyze any electrical damage in the walls.

IF YOUR ELECTRICITY WON’T COME ON

If your power goes out and you realize that your home is the only one with no power, you should call an emergency electrician. Instead of playing with your breaker and flipping switches, an electrician will know how to find the cause of the problem and will be able to fix it and get your power back up and running.
